Main moments
The purpose of the management of the State Pension Fund Abroad (SPU) is to ensure that wealth benefits both current and future generations, where “good” should not be understood in a narrow financial sense.
A number of global challenges threaten the welfare of future generations. The consequences of these can be reduced if we manage the State Pension Fund abroad wisely. In this sense, there is an obvious conflict between the financial desire to maximise the size of the fund and the desire to ensure the welfare of future generations. Parliament should, in such cases, provide the government with guidelines on how this should be weighed. In this hearing recording, we make two suggestions for them.
