Breakfast Seminar: Will Everyone Lose Their Job? KI's effect on the economy

Welcome to a breakfast seminar that delves into how KI will affect our economy and jobs. With AI models evolving at an ever faster pace, it is very likely that KI will have consequences in the areas of economic growth, jobs and income distribution. However, economists disagree on the extent. While some predict limited impact, others expect a growth explosion and extensive automation.
Ola H. B. Pedersen, policy adviser to Jens Stoltenberg at the Ministry of Finance, former research fellow in social economics at BI and part-time employee in Long Term, made a note this summer on how we should think about KI's effects on the economy. Why does the research literature proliferate? What really happens when companies adopt AI, and how does this affect productivity, employment and distribution? Is it only the characteristics of the AI technology that determine companies' KI usage, or are there other factors? Ola introduces the note he wrote with supervisor Aksel Braanen Sterri when he was in Long Term, before it is opened up for discussion and questions.
